Fashion and Textiles

COMPULSORY TASK:

This is your first opportunity to show your design (art) skills and creativity. Please complete Task One in the document below, which will feed into your Year 12 sketchbook/portfolio. 

The fashion world takes inspiration from everything – not just fashion designers but from real life, films, literature, music, creative practitioners from ceramicists, photographers etc. For the first task, we would like to see how you take inspiration from the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh works of art.

OPTIONAL EXTENSION:

We would like to challenge you to explore and develop your practical skills in Textiles. Please complete the task in the document below.

COURSE MATERIALS REQUIRED:

  • A sketchbook (preferably A3) - with good quality paper
  • Fabrics & Sewing Kit - The BTEC Art/Fashion course will require you to purchase fabrics, threads, zips and bits & bobs etc. as may be required – (The The Fent Shop website link offer a 10% Discount for students on the course).
  • Purchase your own sewing kit: dressmaker’s scissors, pins, needles, dressmakers measuring tape, seam ripper etc. The Springwood High School shop sells sewing kits or you can buy your own online or from the shops.
