We have been doing our bit to put a smile on people’s faces and a dinner on their plate this Christmas after our whole school got involved in a donation drive for the Purfleet Trust.
Like so much of this year, Christmas 2020 will be an unfamiliar experience for many people, and in some cases, one lacking in seasonal cheer.
Many schools have struggled to keep music going over the last few months. For many students, music is at the very heart of what makes them tick, and not being able to play in bands and orchestras and sing in choirs has been very hard.
The coronavirus pandemic may have impacted many aspects of school life this year, but it has certainly not silenced the young musicians of schools within our trust, where participation numbers just keep on growing.
With the world of work beset by talk of job losses, redundancies and economic crisis, it may seem like a perilous time to be entering the world of employment, but some of Springwood’s class of 2020 are getting used to post-school life having taken up apprenticeships.
The National Anthem is likely to be played with particular enthusiasm by our young musicians after a £2,000 grant with royal connections will further help support music teaching in our schools.
With more than a hundred years of history, Springwood provides an education for boys and girls aged between eleven and eighteen in King's Lynn. Springwood High School is a comprehensive school with Specialist Performing Arts Status and a long history of providing an excellent education to pupils in West Norfolk.
Springwood has moved from Heads of House to Heads of Year. This has meant that monitoring of academic progress has been better focused and support and intervention put in place has had a greater impact on our students. We have since taken the decision to make the same change to the pastoral support in order to further improve the whole experience for our students.
We have a high expectation of both our teachers and our students. We set challenging targets for all and support each other to achieve them. We work hard to monitor accurately the progress of students, celebrate academic success and intervene where necessary.
We offer a wide range of opportunities, both within and beyond the classroom - it is vital that every student participates in other areas of school life. Springwood expects every student to take part in other aspects of our offer to them such as Competitive Sport, Dance Performances, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Lunchtime clubs, Numerous foreign visits and exchanges, and many more!
Springwood High school is dedicated to ensuring that every student gains the best qualifications possible. We believe that excellent academic qualifications provide each student with the best life chances and opportunities to ensure a successful and fulfilled future.
