School Update - 6th Jan 2021

Important Information for parents and carers.

We are just three days into the new term and so much has happened already that it is important that we keep communicating.

January External Examinations

In light of recent announcements and to keep our community safe, the decision has been made to cancel all of our January External Exams that some students were due to take.

Please be assured that no student will be disadvantaged by this decision and we will be in touch with those affected shortly with more information.

Remote Learning and Technology Issues

Hopefully, your children are quickly adapting to another round of remote learning.  Packs of work will be available for those with limited or no access to online resources.  If you haven't yet done so and you need a pack, please contact your child's Year Manager to arrange this to be posted out to you.

As you may have seen via the media, there are many companies and organisations offering equipment and we have a limited supply of laptops and other equipment that we can lend to families who are struggling.  Again, please contact your Year Office to discuss any technology issues you may have and we will endeavour to support you in resolving them.

Key Worker and Vulnerable Student Provision

Please complete the attached form if you are a key worker or your child is classed as vulnerable.  For health and safety reasons, we are aiming to keep numbers of staff and students on site to an absolute minimum.  Therefore, please only request a place for your child if you have no alternative and only select the dates you need your child to attend so we have a clear picture of how many students we will have on site each day.

LFD Testing On Site

Thank you to everyone who has completed the consent form for children to be tested on site.  Over the last couple of days, we have tested almost everyone on site.  This has certainly been a learning experience for us and not without its challenges.

However, I would like to pass on my praise to all of the children who have self-administered their tests.  They have handled the situation very well, taking the testing seriously, listening well to and following instructions.  If your child is one of those who have been in and completed their test, please pass on my thanks to them for making the job just a little bit easier.

At the moment, we are focusing on testing those who are currently coming into school.  We plan to test all students for whom we have consent towards the end of the current lockdown in preparation for onsite education to resume so, for now, the testing for the vast majority of our student population is on hold.
