Failure to complete this to the required standard will put you behind in your second year. Missing work or work of a poor quality will require you to attend additional support lessons, before or after school in September.

Watch ‘It’s a Sin’ available on 4 on Demand - A drama based on the AIDS epidemic in the 80’s. 

Note: This tackles sensitive content and is aimed at an audience 17+. Discussion with/discretion of a parent before viewing is advised. 

From this, consider the following and start to write out a distinction-level analysis of the impact this disease has on a person's life. This is likely to be at least 1 A4 page long.

*Be aware that this drama is set in the 80’s, which is a good place to start when considering the stigma generated around a particular disease. However, you will need to consider how the views around HIV and treatments etc have evolved over time and are now viewed in the modern-day context.

Things to consider in your analysis:

• Social impact of disease, including the perception of the wider society 
• Psychological/emotional impact of both diagnosis and living with the disease
• Long-term impact surrounding relationships, planning of a family and interactions with others
• Support and treatments in place
• Ongoing and end of life care
