COMPULSORY TASK:

To produce a detailed presentation on different types of brick arches.

You will need to research and include the following:

• What is the correct terminology used when identifying particular areas on an arch?
• What are the different types of arches? Name as many as possible.
• Photos of any brick arches you may come across when you are out and about.
• Why are arches used?
• What is meant by a ‘KEY’ brick?

OPTIONAL EXTENSION:

• Explain what Voussoirs bricks are. Draw an example of a Voussoir Arch.
• How does an arch work?

COURSE MATERIALS REQUIRED:

• You will need to ensure that you have the correct PPE (steel toe-capped boots, overalls) ready for your first day in September.
• Please purchase a tape measure.
• If you wish to bring your own trowel, please do so. I encourage you to do this if you can. However, if this is not possible, we have trowels available to use.
