The future looks bright for a former Springwood High School student who has taken the next step towards his chosen career at one of the world’s most prestigious universities.

Kevin Monk has begun studying Electrical Engineering at Imperial College London, with ambitions to pursue a career in the industry.

“Hopefully I’ll go into Engineering and work in London, maybe go into the semiconductor industry,” he said.

“I’ve always known it was going to be something Maths-related, as I’ve always been good at that. I think I decided on Electrical Engineering at the start of Year 12 – it was always going to be Engineering or Physics.”

Kevin achieved an outstanding four Grade A*s in his A-Levels at Springwood, securing top grades in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

Reflecting on his time here, Kevin said his teachers played an important role in supporting his ambitions.

“My teachers were very helpful and definitely guided and helped me a lot – they definitely knew a lot about their subjects. My experience at Springwood was very good.”
