Who are our Young Interpreters, and what is their role?

Young Interpreters are students that have been trained to support new pupils arriving at the school, especially those that speak English as an additional language.  Young Interpreters are students who volunteer for training to be paired up with new students to help them settle in, learn their way around the school and understand rules and routines.  With clear instructions from teachers, Young Interpreters can also support new students in lessons.

Young Interpreters can be speakers of English only or speakers of other languages.  Most importantly, they have volunteered to help any student that is new to the school – regardless of the language they speak – and help them settle and feel welcome at Springwood.
