Year 10 Experience Day

Springwood Sixth Form welcomed 140 students from other schools to get a real life taste of life as a sixth former at Springwood.

Students were served a breakfast on arrival and received their timetables for the day. Mr Pettitt welcomed the visiting students and explained how good it was to see so many young people making a positive step by considering their futures while still in year 10.

Every student then attended 3 A Level lessons in subjects of their choice as well as time in the enrichment session.  The sixth form has a range of 'super-curricular' activities and students had a taste of some of those things including: how to put a tent up for D of E Gold, what artifacts they could make for the EPQ and a 'guess the charity' quiz as part of our volunteering provision.

Visiting students attended a 'Question Time' activity with the Sixth Form council.  Questions asked included: 'what do sixth formers do in their study periods?' ' what is the difference between A Level lessons and GCSE ones?' and 'what social events does Springwood Sixth Form put on?'

Following a pizza lunch, students took part in a sprint quiz.  The answers to which had been available throughout the day using QR codes to allow the students to find the correct information.

Springwood Sixth Form would like to thank staff from all the visiting schools for allowing their year 10 students to attend the day.  We hope to see all the year 10s again at our Open Evening on 13th October.
