Open Evenings 2018

Open Evening

Thursday 11th October 2018

Springwood Students - 6pm

All  other West Norfolk Students - 7pm

We are a high performing  Sixth Form of approximately 350 students.  In 2018, we attained record results: 22% A-A*;  73% of students attained A*-C grades and 48% A*-B.  As impressive as these results are, at Springwood our focus is on life after Sixth Form.  Strong results mean that our leavers secure places at top rated universities, such as Oxford, or  Degree Apprenticeships at companies, including Kennedy’s, Accenture, Palm Paper and Stephenson Smart.

We are very keen to support local businesses and hold weekly ‘workshops’ with firms in the surrounding area, but we also look further afield, encouraging our students to look as far as America and London for their futures. We even have students this year studying in Hong Kong and Columbia.

We recognise that A Levels are about more than lessons.  Our enrichment and volunteering scheme is well established and students complete voluntary work following our ‘Volunteering Fair’.  We run the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) alongside A Level subjects and this year  85% of students achieved  A*-A. Duke of Edinburgh Gold is just one of many enrichment opportunities open to students.

The students themselves play an important part in Sixth Form life.  We have a thriving student council that organises celebratory events for the other students.  These range from the Sixth Form Prom to Sixth Form Bake Offs! We also have an embedded programme of student leadership where students volunteer with younger learners in schools within our trust.

Our Sixth Form is aspirational and challenging but supportive too.  We use many school mechanisms, such as reports and support plans, to help our students achieve their aspirational and challenging targets and, as you can see by the results, they nearly always do!

I hope you will join us on our open evening on 11th October at 7 pm to see our outstanding facilities for yourself!
