Big Battery Hunt 2023

The Big Battery Hunt is a nationwide programme to help educate and inspire young people to recycle more used batteries.

Springwood High School has signed up to the Big Battery Hunt 2023, where both pupils and staff are encouraged to recycle old batteries.

From next week, Monday 1st May 2023, Year 7-10 tutors will be launching this recycling scheme with their forms.

Everybody can get involved – there is even a special battery recycle count for Staff! So get involved, get competitive!

Once we submit our total count, the school will be entered for a prize draw for £3,500 towards garden or outdoor equipment. Individual pupils can get Green Achievement Points and be entered for a monthly draw for an iPad (conditions apply).

So, please get collecting your old batteries as usual, but this time keep a COUNT of them.

You can take your old batteries to local recycling centres, supermarkets, put them on top of your refuse bin (in a small plastic bag), or simply bring them to the SHS LRC, where there is a collection box.

The deadline for entries is 23 June 2023, so let’s make it COUNT!
