Head of Year Mr Denton opened the evening by welcoming the students, parents, staff, governors and our Guest Speaker, Will Pocock, to the GCSE Presentation Evening for the Class of 2023. He said it was lovely to see so many familiar faces here this evening to celebrate the many successes of the year group. He said that it was his pleasure to oversee the final hurdle of this year group’s journey through Springwood High School, as he has watched them grow and mature into young adults over the course of their time here. He said that their journey through Springwood High School has never been smooth. They have dealt with a worldwide pandemic, social isolation at a pivotal time in their development. They have experienced and negotiated their way through the grief associated with tragedy and loss. He said that they had embraced unsettling changes to the Year Team, at an important time in their school life. Despite all of this, they have really shone as a year group, achieving a wonderful set of results and contributing to the wider ethos of the school. He asked them all to enjoy their evening and to  embrace every second of it.
