Vocal evening and Battle of the Bands on the calendar

Young musicians will have the chance to showcase their talent during two shows hosted by Springwood High School.

The first is a West Norfolk Academies Trust Vocal Evening on Thursday, February 1 from 6.30pm when a selection of soloists, duets and trios will take to the stage in the school’s recital room in front of an audience.

Performers are drawn from all four secondary schools in the Trust; Springwood, Kings Lynn; Smithdon, Hunstanton; Marshland, West Walton and St Clement’s in Terrington St Clement.

The evening’s programme will include a range of genres from pop to ballads and musical theatre and tickets are free to attend, with a retiring collection.

“The idea is to give all the students an opportunity to perform in a relaxed manner and the Recital Room has capacity for an audience of 60. There is no charge and no need to book, but we are limited on space,” said Musical Director Robin Norman.

Two weeks later, the school will echo to the sounds of rock and pop when the Battle of the Bands takes place on Thursday, February 15.

Another cross-trust event, bands from all four of the secondary schools will be performing in Springwood’s drama studio, where the audience can also enjoy ‘Ed Sheeran’-style vocalists with guitar.

The full and final line-up is still being completed and tickets to the event are £3, under-18s free.
